In this day and age, why in the world would be a stay-at-home-mom?
I know this triggers something.
That’s my point.
What would your answer be?
Now I’ll tell you my answer.
The first thing I want to say:
It is a full-time job.
It is a life!
Sometimes it seems like it’s not enough anymore to purely be a mom. To dedicate your prime focus to raising happy children.
And yes, of course I know what a privilege it is if you can make the decision to stay home, financially speaking.
But regardless of that situation, can we please just admit that whatever choice you make as a mom, it’s okay?
Lots of moms who work full time have to defend their choice.
But equally, lots of moms who don’t work have to defend their choice.
And then there’s me, a mom who works part-time. The opinions are different, depending on which part of the world you’re from.
Nothing is wrong with either of these choices.
What’s wrong is people thinking they should give their opinions about it.
What’s wrong is moms who don’t put their children first.
But I don’t know any.
So here I am.
A mom myself.
Having to make grown-up decisions. For me and for Judah. And Ronald for that matter.
I end up concluding that I love caring for Judah.
I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
But there’s still another part of me that wants to write.
That wants to tell stories.
So I do both.
I can do both.
I chose to write part-time.
And care full time.
